Listening Therapy
Cornerstone incorporates an effective listening therapy program into our therapy sessions that helps
to build neurological pathways through auditory, visual, and vestibular systems to maximize brain
development. We utilize Integrated Listening System (iLs) and have found it to be a very effective treatment program.
The goal of listening therapy is to improve the neurophysiological foundation for integrating
sensory input by using specific sound frequencies and patterns to stimulate the brain. Research
has proven its effectiveness for a broad spectrum of diagnoses including Auditory Processing
Disorder (APD), ADD/ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Learning Disabilities, Sensory Processing
Disorder, Reading and Handwriting difficulties, Coordination Dysfunction, and many others. This
program compliments Cornerstone Pediatric Center’s brain-based therapy approach to treating children
with special needs as well as other functional difficulties. We consistently see significant
improvements with our patients in areas of communication, attention, speech and language, auditory
processing, bilateral integration, and motor coordination through the use of iLs when used in conjunction
with our sensory based treatment strategies.
